Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami

The Waldorf Astoria in Miami will be the tallest residential tower south of Manhattan. With 100 floors, developed in 1.049 feet of height, the building located in downtown Miami, is composed by nine cubes of nine storeys each, with 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for spectacular, one of kind unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
It houses a 7-star hotel and serviced apartments by Waldorf Astoria with a ten storey parking structure and amenities on top. The lower cubes house the hotel facilities and rooms with serviced apartments and condominiums above.
The concept was to make an iconic sculpture that defied the laws of gravity situating the different blocks in different positions, which in addition created unique views from each space.
The very slender volume required a central core to deal with torsion caused by the areas strong winds.
Carlos Ott created the conceptual design, in collaboration with the architectural firm of Sieger Suarez and the interior design was by BAMO.
